I am Dr. S. Ronéa Stewart Winrow, and I am glad that you have made the decision to take care of your health. Recognizing that your mental health is just as important as your physical health displays valuable insight. Asking for help does not suggest that you are weak, nor does it suggest that you are unable to handle your own concerns. In fact, your considering therapy demonstrates self-awareness, and suggests that you are ready to develop new strategies that will equip you with tools necessary to identify triggers, repair damaging patterns, and manage challenges that you may face.
People seek therapy for a variety of reasons. You may seek therapy because of a specific concern. You may seek therapy because you want something better or different in your life, but don't know how to begin to make necessary changes, or in which areas to start. Perhaps you are making new decisions in your life pertaining to relationship issues, relocation concerns, or career decisions and want to make sure that these changes are being made in the right direction. In some cases, you may be seeking assistance gaining clarity and fresh, new perspective.
Deciding to begin therapy can bring about thoughts of vulnerability and uncertainty. You may initially be a bit hesitant to seek help or support for personal matters, but in doing so, be assured that you are taking an important and courageous first step toward empowerment. It’s my goal to make the process as easy and as smooth for you as possible.
